Domaine des Deux Roches Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Feuille de Vigne’ Réserve 2023 is an elegant Chardonnay from southern Burgundy. Rich yet precise, this Deux Roches Pouilly-Fuissé shows aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and toasted almond with a creamy texture, fine minerality and a long, refined finish.
Deux Roches Pouilly-Fuissé Tasting Notes
Collovray & Terrier Pouilly Fuisse ‘Feuille de Vigne’ has a deep gold colour. Opens with intense brioche notes before evolving towards hints of stone fruits, flowers and minerals. The light to medium-bodied palate is complex with flavours of green apple, citrus, creamy oak notes and a mineral austerity that perseveres into an impressive finish. 100% Chardonnay. The fruit comes from three different parcels in the hamlets of Pouilly, Solutré and Fuissé. The vines grow in ideal southeast facing suntraps on the slopes of escarpments in Vergisson. The semi-continental climate of Burgundy and this exposure to sunlight creates the perfect setting for Chardonnay to ripen quickly. After slow pressing in a pneumatic press, the free-run juice is drained and left to settle at low temperatures before its transference to oak barrels (30% new). Alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels then the wine is left on lees to undergo malolactic fermentation. The wine ages on lees in oak until the following spring.
About Domaine des Deux Roches
Based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, the Domaine is a joint project of Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region.
Jean-Luc and Christian were childhood friends that each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. Always looking to achieve the highest possible quality for their wines, they achieved the High Environmental Certification in 2017 and are now working towards becoming certified organic. Following the success of Deux Roches, the friends now also boast a second property, Altugnac (Languedoc).
